DOHA, Dec 2: Two Pakistan tennis umpires arrived here on Saturday to conduct matches in the Asian Games competitions which commence from Monday. Pakistan's known ITF white batch umpire Muhammad Arif Qureshi and umpire Shahzad Akhtar have been appointed to officiate the games’ tennis events by Asian Tennis Federation.

Arif will be conducting matches in his second Asian Games while Shahzad will be msaking his debut as umpire in the 15-day Games.

“We are delighted to be here and the stint here will help in enhancing our experience,” they told APP on Saturday.

Arif said it was an honour for him to conduct matches in the second successive games while Shahzad also appeared excited about supervising the high profile games.

“We need bigger representation at Asian level which is only possible if we educate our umpires under a long-term plan, helping them to get the status of qualified umpires from ATF,” they said.—APP
