ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: Prof Khurshid Ahmad has condemned the highhanded tactics allegedly used by the Punjab provincial government against the ‘peaceful demonstrations’ launched by the Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), says a statement issued here on Thursday.

“The way, the peaceful caravan from Lahore to Gujrat is being crushed by force is an index of government‘s weakness and panic. On one hand Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is trying to throw feelers about amending the so-called Women‘s Protection Law and on the other peaceful civilian demonstrations are being crushed by force. Hundreds of workers have been arrested on the first day of protest,” the MMA senator said.

Prof Ahmad maintained that political workers must continue and strengthen their struggle despite use of force by the government. “The days of this government are now numbered. People must rise to bring an end to the rule of Gen Musharraf,” he added.
