KARACHI: 36-hour power cut in DHA

Published November 21, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 20: Residents of DHA Phase-VI complained of power failure since Sunday evening, saying that they had to spend a sleepless night and a full day without electricity on Monday.

“Power went off on Sunday evening and there seems no end to our sufferings as it has not been restored despite passage of more than 24 hours now,” an irate resident of Khayaban-i-Hilal told Dawn.

Some other residents complained that despite frantic calls made to the local KESC complaint centre, nothing had been done by the power utility to restore electricity.

A KESC spokesman said a fault in the main cable had caused the breakdown in the area at 8pm on Sunday, adding that power supply might be restored on early Tuesday.
