KARACHI: Trader’s shifting sought

Published November 19, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 18: Businessman Saifullah Paracha’s wife has moved the Sindh High Court for his shifting from the US prison at Guantanamo Bay to Pakistan for heart surgery.

According to petitioner Farhat Paracha’s counsel, Nisar A Mujahid, the detainee is due to be operated upon on November 21 and she fears that he might be ‘killed’ on the operation table.

According to a message sent by the petitioner’s lawyers in the US, the businessman went missing at the Bangkok airport on arrival from Karachi at the invitation of his American business partner on July 5, 2003, and ended up at Guantanamo Bay after detention at the US air base at Bagram, Afghanistan.
