SUKKUR, Nov 10: The Sukkur circuit bench of the Sindh High Court has ordered police to provide protection to a peasant family, rescued from a private jail of a local landlord, in Salehpat on Thursday.

The single bench of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur, comprising Justice Zia Pervaiz, issued these orders on Friday morning.

The application in this connection was moved by peasant Mohammad Akram Bhatti.

He had prayed the court that a local landlord of Salehpat, Chaudhary Ehsan, had kept his elderly father, wife and children in illegal confinement since last month.

On this the court ordered Salehpat police to raid the village of Chaudhary Ehsan and recover the illegal detainees.

The Salehpat police raided the village and recovered four people from his captivity.

Those recovered included, Memorah father of Mohammad Akram Bhatti, his wife Safia, daughter Rani 4, and son Ameen 2.

The landlord, along with the recovered people were produced in the court, where Chaudhary Ehsan stated before the court that his peasant Mohammad Akram Bhatti had taken a loan of Rs. 300,000 from him and was levelling allegations only to get the amount written-off.

Denying the charges, the peasant appealed to the court to provide him protection from the landlord.

On this, the court slapped a fine of Rs. 2000 over the landlord Chaudhary Ehsan for misleading the court and ordered the policeto provide protection to the peasant family.
