DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 9: Successful holding of a divisional convention-cum-public meeting in Dera by PML-N district president and district naib nazim Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, in which the top PML-N leadership spoke against President Pervez Musharraf, has put the coalition district government and District Nazim Maqsood Ahmed Khan Leghari in hot waters.

The district nazim has assumed the top slot of the district with the support of the group led by Punjab PML-N president Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa.

In a press release issued from Lahore for the media men of Dera Ghazi Khan, Maqsood Leghari asked the Punjab PML-N president and his coalition partner in the district government that for the continuity of collation district government, he should stop opposing President Musharraf.

He further said that President Musharraf had taken keen interest in the development of south Punjab and Dera Ghazi Khan.

In response to the statement, district naib nazim Dost Muhammad Khosa said that Maqsood Leghari had obtained top slot of the district with the backing of elected councillors of the PML-N and the party was against the rule of President Musharraf.

He further maintained that the people of Dera elected him as the district nazim and he would prefer to hold the PML-N office instead of the district naib nazimship.

Sources claimed that a couple of weeks back Gen Musharraf had directed the district nazim to get rid of district naib nazim Dost Mohammad Khosa for his anti-government stance. The president had also asked the district nazim for reconciliation with former president and incumbent MNA Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, they said.
