KARACHI, Oct 29: Two suspected bandits were shot dead by police in what they claimed an armed encounter in North Nazimabad on Sunday.

Police said the two men were looting a man identified as Junaid in the limits of the Hydri police post.

Police claimed that the policemen posted at the nearby Burhan police picket saw the holdup and raised alarm.

The suspects opened fire at the police and tried to flee. The police returned the fire, critically wounding the suspects.

Police said that one suspect died on the spot while the other succumbed to his wounds on way to the hospital.

However, none of the policemen were injured in the encounter.
