ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the death of former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

In separate condolence messages to the family of the late president, they prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

The president said Ghulam Ishaq Khan had a long and distinguished career and had served the country as president and a civil servant in different capacities. “He was an honest and upright person dedicated to the county,” the president said.

The prime minister said “late Ghulam Ishaque Khan’s contributions ... would be long remembered. Before taking over as president, he had served as chairman of the Senate and set good parliamentary traditions, “he added.—APP
