KARACHI: Liquor seized

KARACHI, Oct 21: The staff of Anti-Smuggling Organisation, Customs Preventive Collectorate, foiled an attempt to transport smuggled foreign liquor from Turbat to Karachi.

The consignment consisting of 344 bottles valued at Rs332,000 was loaded on a truck (LSA-8980) apprehended at RCD Highway.

The deputy collector Customs Headquarter said that on a tip-off a customs team was sent to RCD Highway that apprehended the truck laden with cartons of smuggled foreign liquor concealed under loose scrap of cardboard.

The custom men arrested the truck driver identified as Ghulam Mohammad and his accomplice Hussain. Meanwhile, an FIR was registered and further investigation started to nab the financiers behind the smuggling attempt.—APP
