Literacy survey over in four dists

LAHORE, Oct 19: The literacy survey of four districts has been completed while 10 other districts are being surveyed currently.

According to Punjab Minister for Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, survey has been completed in the districts of Khushab, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Mandi Bahauddin. The projects will cost Rs110 million.

According to a handout, presiding over a departmental meeting the said the survey would help in devising effective educational policies.

He said a project to attain 100 per cent literacy rate in next four years had been launched in four model districts of Khushab, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Mandi Bahauddin at a cost of Rs 981 million.

He further said the Punjab government had launched various projects to enhance literacy rate in the province and literacy and adult education centers had been established in the all districts of the Punjab.—APP
