KARACHI, Oct 16: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Monday said that after the privatisation of garbage lifting the landfill sites would also be privatised.

He was addressing at a ceremony organised for distribution of tractors and trolleys among the union councils of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town.

The nazim said that a grant of Rs7 million was being provided to all towns under the Sindh Devolved Social Service Programme. He expressed hope that after the privatisation of landfill sites standard of cleanliness would improve further. Gulshan Town Nazim Wasay Jalil said that a tender of Rs40 million had been issued to provide water to UC-12 and UC-13.

The project director of Sindh Devolved Social Service Programme, Kabir Kazi; education expert of ADB, Linda Arthur; Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar and others were also present.

Meanwhile, on the nazim’s directive, a spray drive started in Malir Town against dengue fever virus. The spray is being carried out before sunrise and after sunset.—PPI/APP
