KARACHI, Oct 15: Karachiites would benefit from the multi-purpose Jahangir Khan Squash Academy and club house equipped with modern facilities as work on the project was in full swing and will be completed by the end of next year.

“After acquiring the possession of Jahangir Khan squash complex on Kashmir Road from the then employers PIA, I decided to convert it into a modern complex,” he said on Sunday.

The 10-time former British Open champion dispelled the impression that the complex which served as venue for a number of competitions was razed to deprive youths.

Jahangir, who turns 43 in December, said renowned architects of Singapore and Pakistan have designed the project.

He said it was not in the fitness of things to renovate the previous complex build over three decades back in 1975 as international events are taking place on moveable courts these days.

When complete, it will play hosts to major squash events and enhance country’s image globally, he said.
