KARACHI, Oct 9: A man and his son were shot dead by bandits and a shopkeeper was wounded while trying to resist against bandits in Landhi on Monday morning.

Police said two armed men came to a shop in Babar Market and held the father and son at gunpoint demanding cash. As they resisted, the bandits opened fire wounding Arshadullah.

Police said the victim’s son, Amirullah, who was also in the shop, chased the suspects on foot in the market. He was shot in the chest by the fleeing suspects, police said quoting area people.

Another shopkeeper, Rizwan, who also tried to chase the bandits was injured in the firing, police said. Both the victims were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Following the incident, tension gripped the locality and shops were closed down by the shopkeepers.

Snatching: As many as 85 mobile cellphones and 39 vehicles were taken away in the city on Monday.

Police sources said that 35 cellphones were reported snatched at gunpoint and 40 cellphones were stolen while 10 mobile sets were reported missing on Monday.

Similarly, a single car was reported snatched and 11 were reported stolen.

Police sources said 14 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and 13 reported stolen on Monday.
