KARACHI, Oct 8: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has appealed to the president and prime minister to expedite the rehabilitation of the earthquake victims in Azad Kashmir and the NWFP.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Mr Hussain prayed for those who lost lives in the devastating Oct 8, 2005 earthquake.

Mr Hussain expressed concern over the injustices committed in the distribution of relief goods among victims.

He also took serious notice of the complaints lodged by survivors with regard to their rehabilitation, and said that the MQM was the only party that had started relief work in the affected areas immediately after the natural calamity hit the northern region of the country.

He said that even after the lapse of one year, the party was busy assisting the survivors.
