HYDERABAD, Feb 13: The activists of the Sindhi Hari Tehrik observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Wednesday.

They demanded of the government to establish Hari courts, allocate special seats for peasants in the parliament and announce pension and bonus for them.

Talking to newsmen, the general secretary of the organization, Vishnu Mal, said that in the civilized societies laws were enacted for the protection of animals, birds and forests but in Pakistan no law existed to protect the rights of poor peasants.

He deplored that there was no organization or agency in the country where a poor hari could get his genuine grievances redressed and added that the Tenancy Act was totally ineffective as all powers had been vested in Mukhtiarkar who acted as the manager of landlords.
