VEHARI, Feb 13: One person was killed and five others received wounds in an accident on Wednesday on the Burewala-Arifwal Road.

An overloaded pick-up was going to Arifwala from Burewala. Near Chak 35/EB, it overturned when a speeding bus hit it from the rear. As a result, Muhammad Iqbal died instantly while five other passengers sustained injuries. The injured including Ghulam Ali, Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Yousaf were admitted to THQ Hospital, Arifwala. The pick-up drive escaped from the scene.

DACOITIES: In a series of dacoity incidents on Tuesday night in Kehror Pakka area, 10 unidentified outlaws decamped with cash, ornaments and valuables worth over Rs0.5 million.

In the first incident, armed dacoits barged into the house of Haji Abdul Majid, held the inmates hostage and locked them in a room. They escaped after scooping Rs70,000 in cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs15,000.

These outlaws burst into Muhammad Ramzan’s house, made the family hostage at pistol point and tied all of them with a rope. Later, they collected Rs50,000 in cash, ornaments and valuables worth Rs60,000 and fled.

The same lawbreakers forced their entry into the house of Allah Rakha Arain and held up the family members at gunpoint. They gathered valuables and ornaments valuing about Rs50,000 and fled.

The armed dacoits then barged into the house of local journalist Taj Muhammad and made the family hostage. The intruders collected 25 tolas of gold, wristwatches and other valuables worth Rs150,000 and escaped.
