PCB should have moved court, says Imran

KARACHI, Sept 26: Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have gone to court instead of attending a hearing by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the aftermath of the forfeited Oval Test match against England.

Lashing out at PCB’s weak stance in the matter, Imran said the board had weakened its case after they agreed that the matter should be decided by the ICC instead of approaching court for justice.

“The PCB should have gone to court on lack of evidence in the ball-tampering case and Hair could have been penalised then for failing to provide proof on the charges,” Imran said in an interview here.

He claimed that the ICC hearing is not going to be easy for the PCB as Hair will get a chance to prove his innocence at the forum.

“Hair could prove his decision as correct by saying that it was taken as per the ICC Code of Conduct. And if ICC declares any judgement against him (Hair) he could approach the court.”

The former all-rounder dubbed Hair a racist and said he is prone to making controversial decisions against the South Asian teams.—Agencies
