KARACHI, Sept 26: As many as 150 suspects have been picked up in 200 raids across the city since Sept 19 when four women legislators of the ruling Muttahida Qaumi Movement were deprived of valuables on Jehangir Road by unknown bandits.

However, police have failed to make any headway in the robbery case which is still being described as blind.

Four women legislators of the Sindh Assembly and an employee of the Governor’s House were deprived of cash and valuables by armed suspects on Jehangir Road.

Lawmakers Rehana Nasreen, Asma Sherwani, Aziza Qazalbash and Fareen Ambreen were heading to MQM Headquarters after attending a meeting at the Governor’s House when the incident occurred. An employee of the Governor’s House, Khalid Mehmood, was driving them to Azizabad, police said.

Police said their car was intercepted by four armed suspects riding on two motorcycles. They collected Rs150,000 cash, jewellery, cellphones and a passport.

Following the incident, almost all the specialised units of police were ordered to nab the suspects involved in the case.

Subsequently, Anti-Violent Crime Cell, CID, Jamshed Quarters Investigation and other sleuths of police force came into action and picked up the usual suspects.

All suspects accused of armed robberies recently released from the Central and Landhi jails were nabbed by the police.

Almost all the youths, who used to hang out near Baloch Para and Jehagir Road, have been picked up, but the arrests have not yield the desired results.
