KARACHI: Health camp at Essa Nagri

KARACHI, Sept 24: The People’s Doctor Forum along with People’s Minority Wing on Sunday arranged a free psychiatric and addiction camp at Essa Nagri, Christian Community Centre where 700 patients were given free medicines.

Major illnesses were depression, addiction (heroine), cocaine, opium (alcohol), epilepsy and psychosis. In all the patients, anaemia and malnutrition was common, especially in children and women, showing limit of poverty and poor urban slums areas.

Notables from Christian community and others visited the camp.

Doctors who participated in the camp were Dr Karim Khawaja, Dr Ismail Memon, Dr Shoaib, Dr Wazir Sheikh, Dr Ashiq Shah and Dr Muhammad Bakhsh. At the camp, an awareness lecture on psychiatric illness was delivered by Dr Karim Khawaja. —PPI
