DADU, Sept 22: Five people were killed and 20 others suffered injuries, nine of them serious, when their wagon overturned after its tie-rod broke at the Ghulam Ali Bhand village near Khudabad on the Indus Highway on Friday.

Ms Azeeman Bughio, 52, and her brother, Imam Ali Bughio, 55, died on the spot while Shahnawaz, Ghulam Sarwar, 27, and Ashraf Khatoon, 28, wife of Mohammad Saleh Jokhio, died at the civil hospital of Dadu and Bhan Syedabad hospital where they had been shifted.

The injured were admitted to the civil hospital where the condition of Ms Khadyat Tivano, Asghar Kolachi, Shaukat Memon, Abid Ali, Abdul Sattar, Mohammad Rafique, Sajid Chandio, Altaf and Khalid Dayo was stated to be serious.

The bodies were sent to their native villages through Edhi ambulances. Bhan Syedabad police have impounded the wagon.
