Wapda clinch national judo title

LAHORE, Sept 21: Wapda clinched four gold and five silver medals to win the 18th national judo championship on Thursday.

Wapda, who accumulated 35 points were followed by Army with 28 points, although the soldiers claimed five gold and three bronze medals. Railways finished third with 19 points, winning one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Punjab, Police, Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan and Islamabad also participated in the championship.

50kgs: Yaqoob (Army); Azam (Wapda); Murtaza (Sindh).

56 kgs: Faiz(Wapda), Gulzar (Railways); Arif (Army).

60 kgs: Fakhar (Army); Waris (Wapda); Manga (Railways).

66 kgs: Zeeshan (Wapda); Irfan (Punjab); Sharif (Army).

73kgs: Asif (Railways); Karamat Butt (Wapda); Nazir (Army).

81kgs: Miraj (Army); Saeed Akhtar (Wapda); Tauseef (Punjab).

90kgs: Ghazanfer (Wapda); Naveed(Railways); Saleem (Police).

100kgs: Talib (Army); Shahzad (Wapda); Saleem (Police).

Above 100kgs: Abid (Army); Zahid (Railways); Zonair (Punjab).
