MULTAN, Sept 21: The Higher Education Commission has assured the delegation of the Federation All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association that no army person would be appointed as vice-chancellor in any university.

The assurance was given at an executive body meeting of the FAPUASA and the HEC chairman held in Islamabad on Wednesday.

HEC chairman Dr Attaur Rehman and executive director Dr Suhail Naqvi assured the FAPUASA delegation that only senior university professors would be appointed as vice-chancellors through a search committee.

The HEC chairman accepted all demands of the FAPUASA executive body that would be implemented gradually.

The FAPUASA executive body comprised president Prof Dr Sarwar Naseem, secretary-general Dr Prof Aqeel Ahmed, vice-president Dr Prof Maher Saeed Akhter, members Prof Dr Abdul Qudoos Suhaib Kaleemullah Baloch, Dr Prof Jahanzeb, Dr Prof Muhammad Ishaq, Dr Prof Nasir Jamal and Prof Dr Khasa Kheli.
