KHAIRPUR, Sept 21: Four people were killed and three others, one of them a woman, were injured in clashes between two groups on Thursday evening.

Two people, Ghazi Khan Junejo and Altaf Junejo, were going from Kot Mir Mohammad to Raban Junejo village when two motorcyclists opened fire on them at Jhalooji on the Khairpur-Pir Jo Goth road.

As a result, both died on the spot.

The assailants escaped after committing the crime.

In retaliation, relatives of the deceased opened fire on three people of the rival group near Sim Nala in the B-section police area, killing Anwar Junejo and injuring Lal Dino and Sattar Junejo.

The injured were admitted to the Khairpur civil hospital in a critical condition.

Post-mortem was conducted at the civil hospital and bodies were handed over to relatives.

Another person, Sher Mohammad Junejo, was killed in Nathoo Junejo village.

A woman, Ms Wadhul, was also injured in the clash.

The reason behind the clashes is said to be a dispute between Junejos which has so far claimed six lives.

A tense situation prevailed in the area.

Four booked: Police on Thursday registered a case against four people for poisoning a man.

Complainant Mohammad Bux of the Khairah Bugti village in Kotdiji taluka, lodged an FIR against Manzoor Hussain, Ali Mohammad, Gulzar and Ashiq Hussain for giving poison to Saeed alias Dodo Bhatti on July 13.

The body was thrown into the Mirwah canal near Noonari village.

He said that the deceased had proposed niece of Manzoor Hussain for marriage.

The FIR was lodged on the order of second additional sessions judge Khairpur.
