HYDERABAD, Sept 5: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology has approved the revised recurring budget of Rs397.386 million for the 2005-06 year.

At its senate’s meeting held in Jamshoro on Saturday, it was told that annual recurring budget for the 2006-07 year would be Rs545.335 million.

Vice-chancellor Dr Abdul Qadeer Rajput presided over the meeting.

Director (finance) Muneer A. Shaikh said that the university had successfully narrowed down the budget deficit during the last couple of years.

He said that the deficit could go beyond Rs158.097 million due to unexpected slashing in recurring grant by the HEC for the current financial year.
