KARACHI, Aug 28: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the medical superintendent of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to ensure immediate re-opening of the hospital’s trauma centre shortly after it is refurbished with latest equipment and facilities.The Nazim who paid a surprise visit to the hospital on Sunday was told that the 50-bed trauma centre having the most modern coronary and intensive care units and three operation theatres has been provided with latest equipment is in its final stages of completion.

He was further informed that the hospital’s OPD was also being reconstructed to help provide best possible treatment facilities to patients.

The OPD will be equipped with X-Ray machines and other necessary equipment so that those visiting the OPD can be provided all related facilities under one roof, the MS added.

On a query from the Nazim concerning the stock of medicines, the medical superintendent said they have already acquired the quota from some reputed registered pharmaceutical firms and the current stock of medicines would be enough for one year.

At the outset, the Nazim urged the hospital’s MS to ensure 24-hour availability of not only doctors and paramedical staff but also of technicians so that patients might not suffer on account on non-availability of concerned staff.

Later, he inspected other departments of the hospitals, exhorting doctors and paramedical staff to serve the ailing humanity with missionary zeal.
