NAWABSHAH, Aug 12: Witnesses on Saturday recorded statements before the Sakrand judicial magistrate in a staged encounter case in which Rasool Bux Brohi was killed by police personnel of the Lyari Task Force.

Saheb Khan Chandio, a passenger of the bus from which Rasool Bux was picked up, Nazar alias Nazroo Khaskheli, who accompanied the deceased, bus driver and conductor recorded statements in the court.

Saheb Khan said that he was not travelling in the bus from which Rasool Bux was reportedly detained.

Nazroo Khaskheli said that he was unaware of any such incident.

Bus driver Azeem and conductor Ali Hassan said that they did not meet any police team on July 10, and no such incident had occurred during their travel.

When judicial magistrate Suhail Akhtar Mangi asked Lal Bibi, the widow of deceased Rasool Bux Brohi, that was she feeling insecure and had she any objection to statements, she surprisingly replied in negative.

Accused Chaudhry Aslam Khan, inspector Nasirul Hassan, sub-inspector Mir Farosh and Jamil Qureshi also attended the court without handcuffs.

Hot words were exchanged between journalists and security guards of the suspended SP who tried to stop them for covering proceedings.

Ms Pathani and Mohammad Ismail, mother and father of the deceased, told reporters that suspended SP Chaudhry Aslam and others came to them with Holy Book and asked for forgiveness after which they had forgiven them.
