KARACHI, Aug 11: The nazim of Shah Faisal Town, Mohammed Imran, has taken notice of the complaints regarding supply of contaminated water and water shortage in various areas of the town and directed the officials concerned to take immediate action to address the situation.

He cautioned that no complaint about supply of contaminated water would be tolerated. Talking to people during his visit to various areas of the town, Mr Imran pointed out that supply of clean drinking water to each house was our foremost responsibility and steps were being taken for the replacement of obsolete pipelines and system improvement in all the union councils.

He said that unserviceable and obsolete valves were being changed in all the union councils at a cost of Rs15 million.The town nazim directed the officials to conduct routine surveys for the identification of public grievances and a liaison must be maintained with people for the solution of their problems.

Shabbir Usmani Road: The widening of Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Usmani Road up to 58 feet, being carried out in UC-9 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal at a cost Rs16 million, will be completed in six months.

The dual road is being widened from each side, under the supervision of Town Nazim Mohammad Wasay Jalil.

Previously, both sides of the road measured 34 feet each while 30 to 40 feet area on each side was occupied by encroachments which were cleared after carrying out work on day and night basis.

Meanwhile, all the arrangements in connection with the upcoming Independence Day have been completed, on the directives of the town nazim.

All the union councils have been directed to plant a sapling in their respective UCs on August 14. All the nazims, naib nazims and councillors will participate in this campaign.—APP
