KARACHI: Rakhsha Bandhan Celebrated

Published August 10, 2006

KARACHI, Aug 9: Members of the minority Hindu community in the city, like everywhere else around the globe, celebrated their annual festival of Rakhsha Bandhan on Wednesday.

The festival is celebrated to mark the bond between a sister and brother. Sisters tie rakhi, made from threads, on the wrist of their brothers as a sign of love and respect while the brothers vow to protect their sisters. Married sisters visit the houses of their brothers to tie the rakhi.
