MANSEHRA: The wildlife department caught a hunter for killing two endangered pheasants in the Panjagalli mountain forests in the Oghi range.

A team from the wildlife department led by the range officer arrested the hunter, identified as Zabia Khan, on the spot and confiscated his gun and the remains of the hunted Kalij and Koklass pheasants.

“The team was on a routine patrol in the Panjagalli mountain forests when it spotted the suspect, who had illegally hunted the pheasants and was carrying them away,” a press release issued by the wildlife department said.

It added that the suspect had been booked under the Wildlife and Biodiversity Act, 2015, and fined Rs120,000.

Meanwhile, a team led by additional assistant commissioner Abdullah Khan Swati seized over 600 bags of subsidised wheat flour from a godown and sealed the stockroom.
