CHARSADDA: A hearing- and speech-impaired five-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by an employee of a concrete factory in the Ahmadabad area of Tangi tehsil, police said on Saturday.

According to the FIR registered at Tangi police station, the incident took place in a room of the factory located along College Road.

The complainant, Sardar Alam, the factory manager and uncle of the child, told police that he had briefly gone to his nearby home. He said that on his return, he found the girl crying. The child, who cannot hear or speak, communicated through gestures that a factory employee, identified as Sanaullah, a resident of Dir, had assaulted her in a room on the premises.

The FIR was registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010.

Police said the child was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Tangi, for medical examination and treatment, while a police team initiated efforts to arrest the suspect. Further investigation into the incident was underway.
