MANSEHRA: A man from the Kohistan region has allegedly killed his 18-year-old niece and injured a man and his cousin in an honour-related incident in Oghi.

“The suspect first shot dead his niece at home and then went outside and opened fire on her alleged paramour and his cousin. We arrested him when he was fleeing,” District Police Officer Mohammad Waqas Khan told reporters.

He said the suspect lived in Oghi.

The DPO said police registered two FIRs in this connection. The incident took place presumably under the local honour-related chor custom.

The girl’s body was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital in Oghi where doctors completed medico-legal formalities before handing it over to the family.

Naveed Ahmad, 22, said in his FIR that his father had died around eight years ago and that he and his sister had moved from Kohistan to the house of their paternal uncle, Umarzada, in Oghi.

“My uncle [Umarzada] shot and killed my sister,” he said.

Police arrested the suspect after booking him under sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the injured said that he and his cousin, Ahtram Khan, were cutting firewood when Umarzada opened indiscriminate fire, injuring both of them.

The two were taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital in Oghi where doctors declared the condition of one of them critical.

“We have arrested the suspected killer,” Oghi police station SHO Amir Khan said.
