GUJRAT: A man allegedly murdered the niece of his former employer for her refusal to develop relations with him, and later “died by suicide,” during a police raid on his hideout in Satellite Town, Sargodha, on Wednesday.

According to police, complainant Muhammad Sadiq, a resident of Qadirabad, Mandi Bahauddin district, said that the suspect, Mohsin Abbas, used to be his employee.

He said that his niece Robina Akhtar complained that Mohsin had been forcing her to develop relations with him. He said that after the complaint he sacked Mohsin.

The complainant said that Robina’s marriage was scheduled for Nov 20, and she went for shopping to a cloth shop in the main bazaar at Qadirabad on Tuesday.

Police claim the suspect took the extreme step, fearing his arrest

He said the suspect arrived at the shop and shot Robina with a pistol, and fled the scene. She died on the spot.

On being informed of the incident, teams of police and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) reached the spot and collected evidence from the crime scene.

The body was shifted to the local government hospital, where doctors conducted an autopsy. The body was later handed over to the victim’s family.

The police registered a case against five persons, including Mohsin, his father Nazeer Ahmed, a relative, Shahbaz Ahmed, and two unidentified suspects, under sections 302 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A spokesperson for Mandi Bahauddin police said that police teams traced the location of the fleeing suspect with the help of modern technology, including CCTV cameras, and raided his hideout in Satellite Town, Sargodha.

He claimed that during the raid, the suspect shot himself in the head, fearing his arrest.

Police investigations revealed that before killing the woman, the suspect made a TikTok, saying it could be his last video and uploaded it on social media.

Police collected evidence from the crime scene and brought the body to Mandi Bahauddin.

A couple of weeks ago, a bride was shot dead in Gujranwala city, a day after her wedding, by a man whose marriage proposal her family had rejected. The suspect, Sarfraz Ahmed, was later killed allegedly in the firing of his own accomplices during an “encounter” with a Crime Control Department (CCD) team in Gujranwala.
