ISLAMABAD: The opposition PTI hinted on Tuesday that it would welcome support from JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in their struggle against the government.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja told the media the party would welcome anyone who stood by the party and supported their struggle.

“It is possible that some may walk with us for one mile, some for 10 miles and some till the end, but why should we reject them?” he said.

Saying that the Maulana was no ‘saviour’ or ‘messiah’, Mr Raja said they had no expectations from anyone. “However, we want that the caravan should grow,” he said, adding that PTI would welcome support from the Maulana if he offered it.

Meeting denied, again

A day after Imran Khan’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar was allowed to meet the incarcerated PTI founder, the party claimed that members of Mr Khan’s family were again denied access to him, on Tuesday. Advocate Awais Younas Chaudhry, who submits a list of lawyers and party leaders with Adiala jail administration for meetings with Mr Khan, told Dawn that Uzma Khanum’s son Abdullah Khan reached the jail as a family member for a meeting on Tuesday, but he was not allowed to meet him.

Advocate Chaudhry, whose name was also included in the list of lawyers who had to meet Mr Khan, said that lawyers including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, and Uzma Khanum’s son Abdullah Khan reached Adiala Jail, but they were not allowed to meet Mr Khan.
