KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) posted a profit after tax of Rs25.56 billion in 1QFY27, with earnings per share of Rs54.44, up from Rs9.39bn and Rs20.00 a year earlier, driven by higher volumes and an improved product mix, partly offset by higher finance costs.
Consolidated profit stood at Rs29.42bn with EPS of Rs62.66, including the contribution from Pakistan Refinery Ltd.
PSO’s petroleum sales rose 17.8pc year-on-year, more than double the industry’s 7.1pc, lifting its market share by 4.2pp to 45.9pc.
Chief Executive Jawwad Ahmed Cheema said PSO grew at more than twice the market pace while maintaining supplies during severe regional disruptions.
Petrol sales rose 23.2pc to 968,000 tonnes, and high-speed diesel 12.8pc to 759,000 tonnes, despite a contraction in national diesel demand.
Wafi profit doubles
Wafi Energy Pakistan Ltd reported a profit of Rs6.5bn in 9M2026, against Rs3bn last year, despite volatile markets and supply-side pressures. It announced a Rs4 per share dividend.
The company added 54 Shell retail sites, 26 Shell Select stores and nine Recharge EV charging stations. Chief Executive Zubair Shaikh said the firm would continue investing to create long-term value.
Indus Motor profit rises
Indus Motor Company’s net sales rose to Rs74bn in 1QFY27 from Rs62bn, while profit increased to Rs7.4bn from Rs6.7bn. Unit sales grew 34pc to 13,380.
Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali attributed the growth to higher volumes, localisation, cost control and higher other income, but warned that misuse of the Gift Scheme for used-car imports was undermining local manufacturing and revenues.
He said the absence of a long-term auto policy was creating uncertainty, while higher oil prices, geopolitical risks and exchange rate volatility could weigh on the outlook.
