CHARSADDA: The district of Charsadda has lost 240 police personnel, including seven deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and 10 inspectors, in the war against terrorism, according to figures provided by the police Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Charsadda.

Sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty were remembered during the Qul ceremony of DSP Imranud Din Khan, who was recently martyred in a militant attack in Karak. The ceremony was held in his native village of Tarangzai in Charsadda and was attended by Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, senior police officials, local elders and other prominent personalities, who gathered to pay their respects and offer condolences to the bereaved family.

The participants offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. They paid tribute to the martyred officer for his courage, honesty and dedication to the fight against terrorism.

Speaking to the media, the martyred officer’s brother described Imranud Din Khan as a fearless and honest police officer who never shied away from confronting militants. He said his brother had openly challenged militants to face security personnel directly rather than resort to cowardly attacks from behind.

He said his brother had maintained a reputation for integrity throughout his career and supported his family solely through his salary. He never resorted to unlawful means of earning money, he added.

According to the family, the martyred DSP was the sole breadwinner and left behind two wives and children. One of his children is ill and requires medical treatment.

The brother said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has undertaken responsibility for the sick child’s medical treatment during his visit to the family to offer condolences.

The family thanked the governor, senior police officials, elected representatives and other dignitaries who attended the funeral and condolence gatherings and expressed solidarity with them in their time of grief.
