PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued new directives aimed at ensuring transparent release of public funds and preventing financial irregularities during the financial year 2026-27.
A spokesperson for the finance department confirmed the issuance of an official notification on Sunday, outlining strict protocols for fund management.
Under new guidelines, disbursement of any public funds will strictly depend on approval from the competent authority and compliance with prescribed requirements, alongside
daily scrutiny and mandatory safeguarding of all supporting documentation for reporting to relevant department heads.
To maintain real-time oversight, the directive mandates that all fund releases be recorded in the SAP system on the day of disbursement, with the Public Financial Management (PFM) dashboard updated daily.
This digital tracking mechanism strictly enforces that even emergency funds cannot be released without prior official authorisation.
Furthermore, the budget officers are required to submit weekly certificates to their respective secretaries, and the notification explicitly warns that strict legal action will be taken against officials responsible for delayed fund releases, negligence, or financial misconduct.
