ABBOTTABAD: Nathiagali, Ayubia and other hilly areas of Galiyat received the first snowfall of the current winter season, bringing temperatures below the freezing point in the upper reaches of the district.

Cold winds intensified the chill in Abbottabad and surrounding areas.

According to the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), around six inches of snow was reported in parts of the region.

Snow-clearing machinery was deployed to clear the main Abbottabad-Nathiagali Road and ensure smooth traffic movement.

A number of tourists rushed to Galiyat to enjoy the season’s first snowfall, adding to the influx of visitors in the scenic hill stations.

Meanwhile, traffic police have urged tourists to avoid travelling to the hilly areas after sunset.

Visitors were also advised to confirm road clearance with the traffic police before setting out for Galiyat to avoid inconvenience and ensure their safety.
