GWADAR: A high-level meeting, presided over by Maritime Affairs Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, was held in Gwadar on Sunday to review progress on ongoing development projects in the port city.

Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch briefed the meeting on the overall progress of Gwadar Port, the 1.2-million-gallon-per-day water desalination plant, activities in the Gwadar Free Zone, matters concerning Gwadar International Terminal Limited and the authority’s master plan.

The briefing covered Gwadar Port’s strategic importance, efforts to promote commercial activities and development of the free zone.

Matters relating to the GPA master plan were also discussed. The plan is considered important for the future development of Gwadar Port and associated commercial and industrial activities. The integrated development of port infrastructure, terminal operations and the free zone is regarded as essential to realising the port’s potential.

The secretary’s visit aims to review the GPA’s administrative affairs and obtain first-hand information from relevant officials.
