HYDERABAD: A dog bite victim died of rabies at the Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad, on Friday night, taking the death toll in such incidents this year in this district to four.

The young boy, Inam, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital after he was bitten by a dog some two months back. He was a resident of Latifabad.

District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain said that the boy’s wound had been healed. When he developed rabies, the parents took him to the Jinnah Hospital in Karachi where they were informed that it was a rabies case, the DHO said, and added that only then the boy had disclosed to his parents that he was bitten by a dog. Inam was brought to the LUH on Oct 13.
