LAKKI MARWAT: A teenage girl was shot dead inside her house in the Khankhel Mandozai area of Lakki Marwat district, police said on Friday.

They said two armed rivals, identified as Afzal and Nurshaid, entered the house of Hamayun, 53, and opened fire on him.

Hamayun escaped unhurt, but his 17-year-old daughter, Nadia, sustained critical bullet injuries and died on the spot, they added.

Police said the victim’s family had a longstanding feud with the suspects over a murder. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.

The body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem examination, while a case was registered against the suspects under relevant sections of the law at Bargai police station.

Separately, a married woman was allegedly shot dead by her father-in-law in the Sra Darga area of the district.

Police identified the deceased as Amina Bibi, 26, and said her body was initially shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu and later to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang for completion of medico-legal formalities.

Jehangir Khan, 79, father of the deceased woman, told Bargai police that his son-in-law, Gul Nawar Khan, was abroad and his daughter had been living in a rented house in the Kotka Amin area of Sra Darga.

He said he had gone to his daughter’s house to take her to his home when the incident occurred.

“We were preparing to leave when Munawar Khan came out of his room and opened fire on Amina, killing her on the spot,” he alleged.

The complainant said his daughter’s father-in-law was unhappy with her decision to move into a rented house.

Police said the suspect fled the scene after the incident. A case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation was launched.
