KARACHI: A woman was run over and killed by a fast-moving trailer on Mauripur Road on Friday, officials said.

They said that a trailer (TLB-126) hit the woman when she was crossing the road near the Navy Housing Scheme. She sustained critical injuries and was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Kalri SHO Majid Alvi said she was identified as Iqra, 30. He said that the driver responsible for the fatal accident was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

In another incident, a rickshaw driver was killed in an accident on Shaheed-i-Millat Road near Hill Park.

A traffic police official said a car hit a motorcyclist near the Umer Sharif underpass towards Jail Chowrangi. The motorcyclist fell off the bike and suffered injuries. At the same time, a dumper stopped due to the accident and a loader rickshaw rammed into the heavy vehicle from behind, killing its driver and injuring another person.

The dumper driver was arrested by the Ferozabad police.

The traffic police official said the dumper did not have a QR code and its driver did not have a driving licence.

In the third incident, a 20-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Abdul Hameed, was run over and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Khayaban-i-Ittehad Signal in Defence. The body was taken to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
