QUETTA: Air links between Quetta and the Iranian cities of Zahedan and Mashhad were restored on Wednesday and an Iran Air flight (IRA 0827) arrived at Quetta International Airport from Zahedan and subsequently departed for Zahedan carrying 80 passengers.
At Quetta International Airport, officials of the Zahedan Chamber of Commerce arriving on the Iran Air flight were received by Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Jangiyan Dashti Baloch, former presidents Muhammad Ayub Miryiani and Jumma Khan Badizai, Quetta Airport General Manager Khalid Kakar and other officials.
Flights from Quetta to Iranian cities of Mashhad and Zahedan were inaugurated in December 2025. However, the bilateral air service had remained suspended for some time due to the present international situation and has now been resumed.
The restoration of air links is expected to strengthen business ties, boost trade activities and facilitate passenger travel between Pakistan and Iran.
The business community and the people in Balochistan welcomed the resumption of flights from Quetta to Zahedan and Mashhad, describing it as an important step towards improving trade and travel facilities in the region.
