BAHAWALNAGAR: B-Division police have registered a case against two women for allegedly filing a false rape case against a man and attempting to extort money from him.

According to the FIR registered on Oct 11 on the complaint of SI Shahnaz Akhtar, woman ‘Sh’ a resident of Bonga Machhi, had got a case lodged with the B-Division police station on Jan 23, 2025, alleging that ‘Z’, a resident of Basti Sadar Din, had abducted her cousin, ‘A’ and sexually assaulted her.

However, seven days later, on Jan 30, the woman ‘A’ appeared before Judicial Magistrate Bilal Hassan and recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. She stated that she had neither been abducted nor assaulted and that the case had been registered due to a ‘misunderstanding’.

The FIR stated that the case was dismissed in light of the woman’s statement.

It further alleged that the two women had lodged a false case and later withdrew their allegations in an attempt to extort money from ‘Z’. The complaint maintained that misleading the police and the court in this manner constituted an offence under the Anti-Rape Act, 2021.

Police said both women were currently in hiding and raids were being conducted to arrest them.
