RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Brazil on Monday agreed to bolster their military-to-military cooperation as a high-level delegation from the Latin American country called on Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the delegation led by Brazil’s Admiral Renato Rodrigues De Aguiar Freire, chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, met the CDF at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, both military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security landscape and avenues to bolster bilateral defence and security cooperation.

“They expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Brazil and agreed to further strengthen military-to-military collaboration,” the ISPR added.
CDF Munir “emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Brazil”.
Admiral Freire appreciated the military’s professionalism and operational preparedness and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability, according to ISPR.
“The visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Brazil to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen bilateral military ties,” the statement concluded.
The visiting admiral was presented with a guard of honour by a tri-services contingent upon his arrival at GHQ.
Brasilia has made efforts to boost ties with Islamabad as far back as 2018, when then-Brazilian ambassador Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins visited the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Peshawar.
The two sides had agreed on steps to increase bilateral trade and establish a joint chamber of commerce and industry to facilitate businesspeople and investors.
