NAWABSHAH: Four policemen were booked and arrested on Monday after case properties worth multimillion rupees were found missing from the evidence store, or Maalkhana, of the A-Section police station of Nawabshah.

The missing items included 52.5-tola gold jewellery and other valuables.

The case was registered against head munshi Faheem Haider Unnar, a former head munshi Lal Mohammad Rind and constables Saddam Hussain and Farhan Kamboh, who were responsible for keeping safe custody of the case properties at the police station.

The FIR was lodged by SHO Rana Jamshed against his colleagues under Sections 409 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on behalf of the state.

The missing valuables were supposed to be produced before a court, but they were found missing when such a judicial order was being executed on Monday.

Panic gripped the police station, where the entire force looked panicked during a search of the Maalkhana.

An investigation into the matter has been started, according to the SHO.
