New NCCIA headquarters will have state-of-the-art labs: DG

ISLAMABAD: Director General National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has said the under-construction new headquarters of the agency in Islamabad, equipped with modern architecture and advanced digital facilities, will prove to be an important milestone in the history of NCCIA and will significantly improve its operational capacity, investigative capability and response time.

He expressed these views during a detailed visit to the under-construction headquarters here on Saturday. During the visit, the DG inspected various sections of the construction site, reviewed progress of ongoing works and received a briefing from officers, engineers and relevant officials deployed on the project.

He directed that high quality, transparency and adherence to the prescribed timeline be ensured at all costs in the construction work and that the work be completed at the earliest.

He said the new headquarters would have state-of-the-art digital forensic laboratories, cyber investigation wing, data centre, complaint centre and other modern facilities, adding its establishment would further strengthen the digital capabilities of the institution.

The DG reiterated his resolve that all resources would be utilised for eradication of cybercrime, digital protection of citizens and protection of their data and timely, transparent and effective service delivery to the public would be ensured.

DG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi separately held an important meeting with Superintendent Logistics Arqam Mehmood.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on overall performance of the Logistics Wing, fair and efficient distribution of resources, maintenance and availability of vehicles, office facilities, stationery and operational support required for field offices and zonal units.

The Logistics Superintendent briefed the DG on the current situation of the Logistics Wing, challenges being faced and future course of action.

Issuing clear instructions, the DG said transparency, merit and timely completion must be ensured in all logistic matters and uninterrupted provision of all resources required by field offices and investigation teams must be ensured so that there was no hurdle or delay in ongoing operations against cybercrime.

He said a strong, active and modern logistic support system was the basis of operational success of any institution and all resources of NCCIA should be used with utmost responsibility and honesty. Rizvi also held an important meeting with Staff Officer Safia Hussain at NCCIA Headquarters Islamabad and received a detailed briefing on staff management.

Detailed discussion was held on administrative and organisational affairs of the institution, better deployment of staff, enhancement of manpower capacity and making human resource management more active and effective.

The staff officer briefed the DG on current staff deployments, administrative challenges being faced and reform measures.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said deployment of staff in all wings and zonal offices would be made purely on merit, educational qualification, professional expertise and experience, as proper, fair and effective utilisation of manpower was the guarantor of success and best performance of the institution.

He said every officer and official would be assigned responsibility according to his or her expertise so that further speed, transparency and professionalism could be brought to ongoing operations against cybercrime.

He said all reforms would continue to make NCCIA a modern, professional and people-friendly institution.
