QUETTA: The JUI-F organised a rally to protest against rising lawlessness, killings, targeted attacks, theft, robbery, drug trafficking, obscenity and other criminal activities in the city.

Addressing the rally, JUI-F district chief Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams and other speakers said the open activities of criminal elements and armed groups in Quetta had raised serious questions about the performance of the government and the administration.

They alleged that armed groups operating openly in the city enjoyed government patronage and held the government and administration responsible for the growing incidents of lawlessness. They said government negligence and administrative indifference had left citizens increasingly insecure.

They demanded action against criminal elements and called for those providing them with protection to be brought to justice.

The speakers also condemned the alleged humiliation, unnecessary restrictions and harassment of ordinary citizens at security checkpoints. They said peaceful residents of areas including Aghbarg, Panjpai, Hanna and Nohisar were being harassed and subjected to collective punishment in the name of counterterrorism operations, describing such treatment as unacceptable.
