KARACHI, July 28: Veteran politician and Chief of the Gharib Awam Party Syed Tanveer Hussaini, 67, died of heart failure on Thursday afternoon. He was suffering respiratory problems for some time.

His funeral prayer was offered at the Jamia Masjid Usmania Colony after the Friday prayers and his body was laid to rest at the Paposh Nagar Graveyard. His Soyem will be held at the Jamia Masjid in Usmania Colony between Zuhar and Asr prayers. He has left behind a grieving wife, five sons and four daughters.

Mr Hussaini, the founding president of the party, practiced law. He was renowned for his social work contributions before the party’s formation in 1977.
