KARACHI, July 28: Acting chairman of the Sindh Qaumi Ittehad and Secretary General of the Sindh National Front Gul Mohammad Jakhrani has termed the MQM decision of quitting the government ‘political blackmailing’ aimed at exerting pressure on the government for acceptance of their unjustified demands.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Jakhrani said MQM had been using such tactics in the past also, and added, “they have been enjoying powers for the last four years and now are criticising the government to gain public sympathies on the one hand, and cover up their failures, on the other.”

He said that the MQM had earlier given an ultimatum to the government on the issues of military operation in Balochistan and Kalabagh Dam, but it was also aimed at seeking more ministries.

“Had the MQM leadership been sincere to Balochistan and really opposed the Kalabagh Dam, the situation would have been totally different today.”

Labelling the MQM ‘the pioneer of politics of blackmailing’, Mr Jakhrani said it would be better for Gen Pervez Musharraf to shed his military uniform and formally take over PML-Q, besides getting rid of turncoats and blackmailers.—PPI
