ISLAMABAD: The Karachi IT Park project has faced another delay after two rounds of tendering failed to attract any bids, prompting the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications to adopt a new strategy for awarding the project.

According to a report prepared by the ministry, work on the IT Park is now targeted to begin in June 2027. A third tender will be issued after an independent review of the complete bidding documents.

The ministry has set Oct 25, 2026, as the target date for completing the vetting of the bidding documents. An independent construction contracts consultant will review the revised request for proposal (RFP) before the re-tendering process.

The ministry plans to obtain approval for re-tendering from Korea Exim Bank by Nov 15, 2026, with the third tender scheduled to be issued on the same date.

Interested eligible Korean companies will be invited to participate in an open competitive bidding process. The deadline for submission of bids has been set for Jan 4, 2027. Technical bids will be evaluated by the project’s technical committee, while financial bids will be assessed separately. Following the evaluation process, the Project Steering and Review Committee will examine the final recommendations.

The final approval of the bids will be obtained from Korea Exim Bank, according to the ministry’s documents. The government has set March 25, 2027, as the target date for signing the contract for the Karachi IT Park.
